In September 2025, three members of the Kuwano Research Lab— Jiang, Hu, and Shi —attended the JSCE National Civil Engineering Conference in Kumamoto, where each presented a poster. Researchers from universities, research institutes, and industry across Japan gathered on that day to present and discuss the latest findings and technologies in civil engineering.
2025年9月10日～12日、桑野研究室の蒋、胡、石3名が土木学会全国大会（熊本）に参加し、それぞれポスター発表を行いました。当日は全国の大学、研究所、関連企業から多くの研究者が集い、土木工学の最新研究成果や技術について発表・議論が交わされました。
Before and after their presentations, the three actively engaged with other presenters, exchanging ideas and gaining valuable insights into various topics such as structural engineering, materials, environment, and disaster mitigation. They found the poster format especially advantageous for free discussion and Q&A, which sparked many inspirations.
三人は発表の前後に積極的に他発表者と交流し、様々なテーマ—構造、材料、環境、減災など—に関する有用で先進的な知見を得ることができました。特にポスター発表形式ならではの自由な質疑応答やディスカッションから、多くのインスピレーションを得たようです。
Beyond the academic program, they visited the famous copper statues in Kumamoto of characters from One Piece—Luffy, Zoro, and Chopper. They also enjoyed local specialties like Kumamoto ramen and horse meat sashimi, savoring the flavors and culture of the region. Throughout the city, the “Kumamon” character was omnipresent—on street statues, public transport advertisement signs, even on local restaurant logos—utterly charming and memorable.
学会発表以外では、熊本で有名な《ワンピース》キャラクター、ゾロ、ルフィ、チョッパーの銅像を見学しました。地元のラーメンや特色ある馬肉刺身などを味わい、熊本の味・文化を堪能しました。また、熊本の街には“くまモン”のイメージがあふれていて、街角の像、公営交通の宣伝看板、飲食店のロゴなど、至るところで見かけました。とても可愛らしく、印象的でした。
This conference was highly beneficial both in terms of research and networking. They learned a lot and were deeply inspired. They look forward to presenting again at the next conference, and to visiting Kumamoto once more.
今回の大会参加は、研究面でも人的ネットワークの面でも非常に有益であり、多くを学び、刺激を受けました。次回の学会での発表、そして熊本への再訪を心より楽しみにしています。
