6月26日-29日にイタリア・トリノで開催された8th International Conference on Debris Flow Hazard Mitigation (DFHM8) に橋本・桑野先生・佐藤樹さん(桑野研卒業生)が参加しました。
Hashimoto, Prof. Kuwano, and Dr. Sato participated in the 8th International Conference on Debris Flow Hazard Mitigation (DFHM8) held in Torino, Italy from June 26 to 29.
会議前日の25日には、トリノ近郊の扇状地における土石流対策施設のフィールドツアーが行われました。
On the 25th, the day before the conference, a field tour of debris-flow control facilities in a fan area near Turin was conducted.
山火事後により植生が一時的に失われた時の大雨で発生した土石流の事例などが紹介されました。様々な国からの参加者が議論している様子を聞く中で、国や地域により地形・地質や降水量が大きく異なるので、それによって対策の考え方も大きく変わってくるのだろうと感じました。
26-29日の会議では、土石流の流下・堆積過程の実験や数値解析、モニタリングや対策工のデザインに関する発表が行われました。
From 26th to 29th, there were presentations on experimental and numerical analyses of the process of debris flow and sedimentation, monitoring, and design of countermeasures.
私（橋本）は27日のポスターセッションで、2008年宮城岩手内陸地震で土石流が発生した現場の現地調査と、そこで採取した土を用いた三軸試験の結果などについて発表しました。私とっては初めての国際会議で、当初は緊張していましたが、和やかな雰囲気の中で、無事ポスター発表をすることができました。
I (Hashimoto) made a presentation at the poster session on the 27th on the field survey of the site where the 2008 Miyagi-Iwate Nairiku Earthquake caused a debris flow and the results of triaxial tests using soil collected from the site. It was my first international conference, and although I was nervous at first, I was able to give a poster presentation in a friendly atmosphere.
国によって同じ土石流でもアプローチの仕方が違ったりするようで興味深かったです。
英語力を磨いて、これからもたくさんの会議に参加したいと思いました。
It was interesting to see that different countries seem to approach debris flow in different ways.
I would like to improve my English skills and participate in many more conferences in the future.
また、会議の前後にイタリア観光も楽しむこともできました。本場アルプスは格別で、今度は登山をしに来たいと思います。
I also enjoyed sightseeing in Italy before and after the conference. The real Alps are exceptional, and I would like to come back to climb mountains next time.
